Julian of Norwich – Revelations of Divine Love
Anchorite Mystic • Voice of Hope • Witness of “All Shall Be Well”
Opening the Scroll
“I saw the whole of creation,
small as a hazelnut,
resting in God’s hand —
and it endured,
for it was loved.
All shall be well,
and all shall be well,
and all manner of thing shall be well.”
— Julian of Norwich
The Message
Julian of Norwich, a 14th-century English anchoress and mystic, received visions during a severe illness that she later recorded as Revelations of Divine Love — the first known book in English by a woman. In her visions, she encountered Christ’s deep compassion and the assurance that despite suffering, sin, or chaos, divine love holds all things.
Her famous words, “All shall be well”, echo as a timeless promise of hope. Julian teaches us that love is stronger than fear, that creation itself is sustained by love, and that God is as much Mother as Father. Her revelations remind us that in the end, nothing is wasted, and everything is gathered back into wholeness.
